Iron & Rose set up shop in Shrewsbury’s Market Hall, one of the countries most exciting indoor markets. Iron & Rose’s main focus is on wines from organically and bio-dynamically farmed vineyards, winemakers who practise minimal manipulation in the cellar, but above all their focus is on wines that taste good.
Robin, from Iron & Rose, has worked in most areas of the wine industry. He has picked grapes and worked in a winery, sold wine in high street and traditional shops, and supplied wine to restaurants, brewers, national chains and supermarkets.
Marguerite, from Iron & Rose, has spent her career in visual arts working with the most exciting contemporary artists around, travelling with Robin, trying all the weird foods rather than esoteric wines!
Iron & Rose’s pop up At Nº11, is Wine 101, a real wine workshop and lunch.
Have you ever wanted to know how wine is made? What wine-speak terms like “extracted”, “tannic”, “full bodied” and “mineral” mean? What wines “go” with what foods? Why some wines cost a lot more than others? What’s special about “real” or natural wine, the kind we love at Iron & Rose, and how it differs from the more industrial end of things? And how all this will help you choose wines you like?
Iron & Rose will demystify some of this, by tasting a bunch of amazing wines, experiment pairing wines with different food types and enjoy some lunch prepared by sensational local caterers Comyn Bruce. You will generally get to know a bit more about this wine thing, and above all, have a great time!
